Team Daren is proud to introduce the team running for re-election at IUOE Local 302:

Business Manager

Daren Konopaski (Incumbent)

Brother Konopaski is a 30-year member and 2nd generation Operating Engineer. He is an Apprenticeship Graduate and spent several years welding, dredging, paving, service oiling, running crusher, and working at asphalt plants. He has served this Local as a Dispatcher, District Representative, and Treasurer. He is currently the 4th International Vice President giving Local 302 a seat and voice at the International Executive Board. He has been the Business Manager for the past 12 years along with being the Chairman for both the Health and Pension trusts through some of the toughest financial times in our history since 2008. He has led this Local through many fights and accomplishments, from reorganizing Concrete Pumpers, organizing Granite (largest open-shop in WA), to merging Locals 370 and 286 both of which expanded our jurisdiction and influence. Daren isn’t afraid to take on any challenge. He is a man of his word that believes in fiscal responsibility of members’ money, fighting hard at the bargaining table negotiations, and representing the membership to the best of his ability.

Line Officers

James Garrett – Recording, Corresponding, Financial Secretary (Incumbent)

Brother Garrett is a 35-year member of the Operating Engineers. Formerly of Local 370, he started working on a rock crusher as an oiler in 1985. James has worked as all-around hand running cranes and as a mechanic. He became a Field Representative in 2008 and served as the Recording Corresponding Secretary for Local 370 prior to the merger. James is a trustee for the WA-ID Health & Welfare and Inland Empire Training Trusts. He has served as the Recording, Corresponding, Financial Secretary for the past three years.

Sean Jeffries – President (Incumbent)

Brother Jeffries is a 30-year member of Local 302. He worked as a Crusher/Wash plant operator/mechanic along with dozer and loader operator. Sean served as a Local 302 Job Steward on the job then hired as a Dispatcher. He then worked his way up to a District Representative for the past 16 years along with serving as a Trustee on both the Pension and Health & Welfare trusts for the past 12 years and has been the President for the past 10 years.

Jason Alward – Vice President (Incumbent)

Brother Alward is a 15-year member of Local 302, lifelong Alaskan, college graduate, and is currently the District 6 Representative in Anchorage. He serves on the Alaska Training Trust and as a Trustee on both the Pension and Health and Welfare trusts. He spent many years as a mainline excavator operator and as an equipment operator for the Municipality of Anchorage.

Lake Williams – Treasurer (Incumbent)

Brother Williams is a 25-year member of Local 302, apprentice graduate, college graduate, and a 3rd generation Operating Engineer. Prior to coming on staff, Lake worked paving, dirt, and as a foam and spiral machine operator. Lake served as dispatcher, organizer, and agent before becoming the District 7 Representative. He serves as the President of the Fairbanks Building Trades, an Alaska Training Trustee, and is a member of the Alaska Workers’ Comp. Board.

Executive Board

Shane Linse (Incumbent)

Brother Linse is a 18-year member and a 3rd generation operator who started his career with Local 302 as an apprentice. He worked as an operator and foreman in Alaska, including the oil fields of the North Slope. Currently, he has served as a Business Agent for District 6 for over 12 years, an Alaska Training Trust Trustee, and the South Central Building Trades Sergeant of Arms.

Corey Baxter (Incumbent)

Brother Baxter is a 24-year member and a 2nd generation operator. He has served as an Executive Board Member and as the District 8 Representative for the past 10 years. He is an Apprenticeship graduate and was a Job Steward for several years and an instructor for the pipeline training center. He has served eight years on the Alaska Workforce Investment Board, which is an appointed position by the Governor of Alaska.

Jeff Frazier (Incumbent)

Brother Frazier is a 10-year member who started his career representing workers as a Business Representative with the former Local 286. He is an attorney licensed to practice law in Washington State and is a 1996 graduate of the University of California – Hastings College of the Law. He is the District 286 Representative and serves on the Executive Board and was recently been appointed as a Trustee to the Western Washington Stationary Engineers Training Trust.

Trustees

Ron Dahl (Incumbent)

Brother Dahl is a 30-year member and has been on staff for 18 years and currently works as the Business Relations Rep. negotiating contracts (including AGC, Sand & Gravel, and public units) and negotiating and administering many PLAs/CWAs. Ron is a finish dozer hand who has worked in the dirt industry on heavy highway, commercial, and residential construction.

Adam Ferguson

Brother Ferguson is a 18-year member, apprentice graduate, college graduate, and proud Operating Engineer. He has been on staff at the Palmer training center for the past 9 years and currently serves as an Apprenticeship Coordinator for Districts 6 & 8. Adam believes that planning for a sound future through recruitment, training, and smart investing to be of utmost importance for the Local.

Shawn Lowry (Incumbent)

Brother Lowry is a 20-year member and 2nd generation operator. Shawn has worked on the Alaska highways, the North Slope, and remote mine site developments. He was the District 7 Dispatcher and is currently the Field Representative covering the Pipeline and North Slope. Shawn currently serves as a Trustee.

Auditors

Crystal Tidwell

Sister Tidwell is a 12-year member, apprentice graduate, and proud 2nd generation operator. Her passion is for our membership and building a better future for the membership and their families. She is currently the Field Representative for the Interior of Alaska. Crystal also serves as a Delegate on both the Building Trades and the Labor Council.

Efrain Saucedo (Incumbent)

Brother Saucedo is a 24-year member who started as an Apprentice in May of 1996. He has worked for several contractors over his career. He is currently working at the 302 Training Center as the Dozer Instructor. He likes to help the membership while making our Union more valuable. He thanks the membership for his wonderful career and currently serves as an Auditor.

Charles Strange (Incumbent)

Brother strange is a 27-year member of Local 302. He is also a 15-year Shop Steward and an avid attendee at union meetings. He is currently working as a heavy equipment operator for the Municipality of Anchorage.

Guard

Josh Swanson

Brother Swanson is a 10-year member sho came to us from REBOUND, a Prevailing Wage enforcement agency where he served as the Deputy Director. Prior to that he worked for WA L&Is where he held a number of positions, including the head of Prevailing Wage, the Operations Manager for the Construction division and as the agency lobbyist.

Conductor

Al Cummins

Brother Cummins is a 40-year member, apprenticeship graduate, and 2nd generation operator. Al has worked as a crane operator, mechanic, and public sector in both WA and AK. Al has been a steward, dispatcher, and is a field rep. He also serves as a trustee for the Puget Sound Metal Trades and is a delegate for the Snohomish/Island County Labor Council.
